BioSonics Solar Harmonic Spectrum – Set of 8 Tuning Forks from the USA
Eight tuning forks from C 256 Hz to C 512 Hz – a complete octave for harmonious sound work
The Solar Harmonic Spectrum by BioSonics USA is a high-quality set of eight harmonically tuned tuning forks. It covers the complete musical scale from C to the next higher C and offers a wide range of possibilities for meditation, sound massage, mindful listening and working with musical intervals.
The special feature of this set lies in the interaction of its tones: when two tuning forks are struck simultaneously, different musical intervals are created – from the tension-filled second and the harmonious fifth to the octave.
Each interval has its own distinctive sound character and invites you to consciously experience harmony, tension and resolution.
Eight Tuning Forks – Eight Harmonically Related Frequencies
The Solar Harmonic Spectrum includes the following notes:
Note
Frequency
C
256 Hz
D
288 Hz
E
320 Hz
F
341.3 Hz
G
384 Hz
A
426.7 Hz
B
480 Hz
C (higher octave)
512 Hz
The frequencies are based on natural numerical ratios, using C 256 Hz as the fundamental tone. BioSonics refers to this tuning system as Pythagorean. It differs from the modern equal-tempered tuning system based on the standard concert pitch of A = 440 Hz.
These special frequency ratios make it possible to create and compare clear musical intervals.
Discover the World of Musical Intervals
A musical interval is the distance between two different notes.
The Solar Harmonic Spectrum allows you to explore the following intervals, among others:
The Second – C and D
A narrow musical interval with a tension-filled sound character. It can be used to consciously experience movement and musical tension.
The Third – C and E
A gentle, pleasant combination of tones, often perceived as warm and comforting.
The Fourth – C and F
An open-sounding interval with a characteristic relationship of tension to the fifth.
The Perfect Fifth – C and G
With frequencies of 256 Hz and 384 Hz, these two notes create the natural frequency ratio of 2:3. The perfect fifth is considered one of the most harmonious musical intervals.
The Sixth – C and A
A wide, rich-sounding interval that opens up new possibilities for musical sound sequences.
The Seventh – C and B
A tension-filled combination of tones that invites you to consciously experience dissonance and resolution.
The Octave – C 256 Hz and C 512 Hz
Two tones with a frequency ratio of 1:2. The octave is perceived as a particularly close musical relationship and forms a harmonious conclusion to the scale.
Sound Work According to Dr. John Beaulieu
American sound researcher and musician Dr. John Beaulieu developed various tuning fork applications in which musical intervals are played in a specific sequence.
These so-called interval protocols are used for meditation themes such as:
Balance and inner harmony
Motivation and creativity
Self-confidence and inner strength
Calmness and clarity
Regeneration and integration
Letting go and centering
Different intervals are played one after another and listened to mindfully.
The association of certain intervals with emotional or spiritual qualities originates from sound healing philosophy and personal experience. Scientifically established medical healing effects cannot be inferred from these associations.
Sound Work with the Five Elements
In the sound philosophy of BioSonics, musical intervals are also associated with the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether.
The intervals can symbolically represent different qualities:
Earth: Harmony, stability and grounding
Water: Flow, movement and emotional awareness
Fire: Activity, vitality and expression
Air: Spaciousness, lightness and openness
Ether: Space, connection and wholeness
In this tradition, the octave from C 256 Hz to C 512 Hz is particularly associated with the element Ether.
These associations offer interesting possibilities for creative sound sequences, meditation and personal exploration of the elements.
Applications in Meditation, Sound Massage and Workshops
Mindful Listening
Two tuning forks are gently struck and held at a comfortable distance from the ears. Attention is directed towards their combined sound and the resulting overtones.
Sound Work in a Room
The tuning forks can be sounded individually or together and slowly moved through the room.
Meditation with Musical Intervals
A consciously chosen sequence of different intervals creates an individual sound meditation.
Creative Sound Work
The Solar Harmonic Spectrum provides a versatile foundation for developing your own sound sequences and experimenting with consonance, dissonance and musical tension.
Expandable into a Fibonacci Tuning Fork Set
One of the special advantages of the Solar Harmonic Spectrum is its expandability.
Four of the included tuning forks can also be used for Fibonacci sound work:
1/1 – C 256 Hz
1/2 – C 512 Hz
2/3 – G 384 Hz
3/5 – A 426.7 Hz
The separately available Fibonacci Upgrade Set by BioSonics adds four more tuning forks:
5/8, 8/13, 13/21 and 21/34.
Together, they form a complete Fibonacci Set of eight tuning forks without having to purchase instruments you already own.
High-Quality Tuning Forks by BioSonics USA
The tuning forks are made from a special aluminium alloy. Their unweighted design produces a clear, overtone-rich sound.
The Solar Harmonic Spectrum is suitable for beginners exploring musical intervals as well as experienced sound practitioners, workshop leaders and anyone wishing to expand their sound work.
